Snatched up like hot buns
Have you ever been to a bakery when the buns have just come out of the oven? Ah… what a wonderful smell!
הַאִם הֱיִיתֶם פַּעַם בְּמַאֲפִיָּה כַּאֲשֶׁר הַלַּחְמָנִיּ וֹת רַק יָצְאוּ מֵהַתַּנּוּר?
אָח.....אֵיזֶה רֵיחַ טוֹב...
Everyone loves fresh buns, so when they come out of the oven, people rush to buy them, and very quickly there are no buns left.
כּוּלָּם אוֹהֲבִים לַחְמָנִיּוֹת טְרִיּוֹת וְלָכֵן כְּשֶׁהֵן יוֹצְאוֹת מֵהַתַּנּוּר, אֲנָשִׁים מְמַהֲרִים לִקְנוֹת אוֹתָן וּמַהֵר מְאוֹד לֹא נִשְׁאָרוֹת לַחְמָנִיּוֹת.
We use this expression for any new product that arrives in stores and people rush to buy it, so that very quickly it is gone.
כָּךְ אֲנַחְנוּ מִשְׁתַּמְּשִׁים בַּבִּיטּוּי הַזֶּה לְגַבֵּי כָּל מוּצָר חָדָשׁ שֶׁהִגִּיעַ לַחֲנוּיוֹת וַאֲנָשִׁים מִהֲרוּ לִקְנוֹת אוֹתוֹ כָּךְ שֶׁמַּהֵר מְאוֹד לֹא נִשְׁאַר.
For example:
"The new iPhone was snatched up like hot buns."
"The sports shoes from Adidas’ new collection were snatched up like hot buns."
