אֲנַחְנוּ יְכוֹלִים לִרְאוֹת בְּשֵׁם הַפֺּעַל הַזֶּה אֶת שֵׁם הַתּוֹאַר 'חָרִיף' שֶׁהוּא בְּעֶצֶם טַעַם שֶׁל אוֹכֶל, וְשֵׁם הַתּוֹאַר הַזֶּה מוֹפִיעַ בְּסַל הַמִּילִּים בְּנוֹשֵׂא טְעָמִים. אִם אַתֶּם רוֹצִים לִקְרוֹא עָלָיו לַחֲצוּ כָּאן.
However, we don’t use this verb when we talk about food. We use this verb when we talk about a situation that is deteriorating and becoming worse than it was.
אֲבָל אֲנַחְנוּ לֹא מִשְׁתַּמְּשִׁים בְּשֵׁם הַפֹּעַל הַזֶּה כְּשֶׁאֲנַחְנוּ מְדַבְּרִים עַל אוֹכֶל.
אֲנַחְנוּ מִשְׁתַּמְּשִׁים בְּשֵׁם הַפֹּעַל הַזֶּה כְּשֶׁאֲנַחְנוּ מְדַבְּרִים עַל מַצָּב שֶׁמִּדַּרְדֵּר וְהוֹפֵךְ לִהְיוֹת יוֹתֵר גָּרוּעַ מִמָּה שֶׁהָיָה.
For example, if a person is ill and does not treat their illness, the illness may worsen.
אִם, לְמָשָׁל אָדָם חוֹלֶה וְהוּא לֹא מְטַפֵּל בַּמַּחֲלָה שֶׁלּוֹ אָז הַמַּחֲלָה יְכוֹלָה לְהַחֲרִיף.
Or if there’s a crisis between a husband and wife, and they argue a lot but do not go to couples' therapy, the crisis may escalate and heaven forbid, lead to divorce.
אוֹ אִם יֵשׁ מַשְׁבֵּר בֵּין בַּעַל לְאִישָּׁה וְהֵם רַבִים הַרְבֵּה מְאוֹד, אֲבָל לֹא הוֹלְכִים לְטִיפּוּל זוּגִי אָז הַמַּשְׁבֵּר יָכוֹל לְהַחֲרִיף וּלְהַגִּיעַ, חָלִילָה, לְגֵירוּשִׁין.
