Bonfire
Already after Passover, you can see children roaming the streets, collecting wood in preparation for the Lag BaOmer bonfire.
כְּבָר אַחֲרֵי פֶּסַח תּוּכְלוּ לִרְאוֹת יְלָדִים מִסְתּוֹבְבִים בָּרְחוֹבוֹת וְאוֺסְפִים עֵצִים לִקְרַאת הַמְּדוּרָה שֶׁל ל"ג בָּעוֹמֶר.
On the eve of Lag BaOmer, they bring the gathered wood, stack it into a tall pile, and ignite the fire.
בְּעֶרֶב ל"ג בָּעוֹמֶר מְבִיאִים אֶת הָעֵצִים שֶׁנֶּאֶסְפוּ, מַנִּיחִים אוֹתָם בַּעֲרֵימָה גְּבוֹהָה וּמַדְלִיקִים אֶת הָאֵשׁ.
Unfortunately, in recent years, the fire department has occasionally prohibited bonfire lighting due to air pollution concerns.
לְצַעֲרֵנוּ בַּשָּׁנִים הָאַחֲרוֹנוֹת, לְעִיתִּים קְ רוֹבוֹת, רָשׁוּת הַכַּבָּאוּת אוֹסֶרֶת עַל הַדְלָקַת מְדוּרוֹת בִּגְלַל זִיהוּם אֲוִיר.
Especially when strong winds are expected, the fire department prohibits bonfires due to the risk of fire spreading and concerns about large-scale wildfires.
וּבִמְיוּחָד כַּאֲשֶׁר צְפוּיוֹת רוּחוֹת, רָשׁוּת הַכַּבָּאוּת אוֹסֶרֶת עַל הַדְלָקַת מְדוּרוֹת בִּגְלַל סַכָּנַת הִתְפַּשְּׁטוּת הָאֵשׁ וַחֲשָׁשׁ לִשְׂרֵפוֹת גְּדוֹלוֹת.

הִנֵּה כַּמָּה מִשְׁפָּטִים עִם הַמִּילָּה מְדוּרָה:
1. On the eve of Lag BaOmer, we lit a bonfire and threw foil-wrapped potatoes into the flames.
1. בְּעֶרֶב ל"ג בָּעוֹמֶר, הִדְלַקְנוּ מְדוּרָה וְזָרַקְנוּ תַּפּוּחֵי אֲדָמָה עֲטוּפִים בִּנְיַר כֶּסֶף לְתוֹךְ הָאֵשׁ.
2. After about 20 minutes, we took the potatoes out of the bonfire, unwrapped them, sprinkled a little salt, and ate them… an amazing experience!
2. אַחֲרֵי 20 דַּקּוֹת בְּעֵרֶךְ הוֹצֵאנוּ אֶת תַּפּוּחֵי הָאֲדָמָה מִתּוֹךְ הַמְּדוּרָה, פָּתַחְנוּ אוֹתָם, פִּזַּרְנוּ קְצָת מֶלַח וְאָכַלְנוּ....חֲוָיָה נֶהְדֶּרֶת.
3. A foil-wrapped potato from the bonfire is delicious but also a little messy. After eating a potato from the bonfire, your hands will be blackened.
3. תַּפּוּחַ אֲדָמָה בִּנְיַר כֶּסֶף מֵהַמְּדוּרָה זֶה טָעִים, אֲבָל גַּם קְצָת מְלַכְלֵךְ. אַחֲרֵי שֶׁתֹּאכְלוּ תַּפּוּחַ אֲדָמָה מֵהַמְּדוּרָה הַיָּדַיִם שֶׁלָּכֶם יִהְיוּ שְׁחוֹרוֹת.
4. The children lit a large bonfire and formed a big circle around it. They danced and sang until the flames went out.
4. הַיְּלָדִים הִדְלִיקוּ מְדוּרָה גְּדוֹלָה וְעָשׂוּ מַעְגָּל גָּדוֹל סְבִיבָהּ. הֵם רָקְדוּ וְשָׁרוּ עַד שֶׁהָאֵשׁ כָּבְתָה.
