Grapes
Here are some important Hebrew terms related to grapes, and I would like to explain them here:
יֵשׁ כַּמָּה מִילִּים חֲשׁוּבוֹת שֶׁקְּשׁוּרוֹת לָעֲנָבִים וַאֲנִי רוֹצָה לְהַסְבִּיר אוֹתָן כָּאן:
Gefen – The vine that produces grapes is called a gefen.
Eshkol – Grapes grow in clusters. A cluster of grapes is called an eshkol.
Zag – The peel or skin of a grape is very thin and is called a zag.
גֶּפֶן –הַצֶּמַח שֶׁל הָעֵנָב נִקְרָא גֶּפֶן.
אֶשְׁכּוֹל - הָעֵנָב גָּדֵל בִּקְבוּצוֹת. קְבוּצָה שֶׁל עֲנָבִים נִקְרֵאת אֶשְׁכּוֹל.
זָג - קְלִיפַּת הָעֵנָב. לָעֵנָב יֵשׁ קְלִיפָּה דַּקָּה מְאוֹד וְהִיא נִקְרֵאת זָג.
Kerem – The vineyard, or the area where grapes are cultivated, is called a kerem.
Gat – The winepress, where grapes are crushed to produce wine, is called a gat.
כֶּרֶם - הַשֶּׁטַח שֶׁבּוֹ גְּדֵלִים הָעֲנָבִים נִקְרָא כֶּרֶם.
גַּת - הַמָּקוֹם שֶׁבּוֹ מוֹעֲכִים אֶת הָעֲנָבִים לְיַיִן נִקְרָא גַּת.
In the area I live in, the Judean Desert, there are many ancient winepresses, since the region was historically known for wine production.
בָּאֵיזוֹר שֶׁבּוֹ אֲנִי גָּרָה, אֵיזוֹר מִדְבַּר יְהוּדָה, יֵשׁ הַרְבֵּה מְאוֹד גַּתּוֹת קְדוּמוֹת, כִּי הָאֵיזוֹר הָיָה יָדוּעַ בְּיִצּוּר יַיִן.
